CIRIO OF NAZARETH

This Holiday happens since 1793 on the second sunday of September in  Belem do Pará, Brazil.
Its ones of the biggest catholic events arond the world.
About two million people make a pilgrimage to carry the candle from the Metropolitan Cathedral to the Basilica of Nazareth and other processions are held in the company of state security vehicles and boats.
This is celebrated throughout the state of Pará.
Some typical dishes are maniçoba and tucupi, sold in the atriums of churches and in restaurants.

When you are passing through the streets of Belém during your Nazarene pilgrimage, be aware of the sale of very special toys made with the stem of the miriti palm. They are miniatures of animals, boats and species of the Amazon flora made in a handmade way, most of them coming from the hands of artisans in the city of Abaetetuba.
